EM Agriton Clay Minerals Edasil – natural soil improver for optimal fertility
EM Agriton Edasil Clay minerals are among the smallest particles in the soil, but have an enormous impact on the fertility and structure of the soil.
These natural bentonite clay minerals consist of countless thin platelets, resulting in an exceptionally large surface area – up to 800 m² per gram . For comparison, the most common clay mineral in the Netherlands, illite, has a maximum surface area of 150 m² per gram.
Thanks to their unique chemical composition , the edges of the clay minerals are electrically charged. This charge attracts and temporarily binds nutrient ions, releasing them only when their concentration in the soil decreases.
This creates a constant, natural supply of essential nutrients for plants.
Edasil Clay minerals bind potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na) and ammonium (NH₄) , among other things, and improve the soil structure, thereby limiting nitrate leaching .
The result is a stable, fertile soil life in which plants can grow optimally and nutrients are used efficiently.

Clay minerals are clay granules (2 to 5 mm in size) that improve CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity) and soil fertility. They contain trace elements and are mined in southern Germany. These clay particles play a crucial role in soil fertility. They can effectively regulate soil moisture. They also ensure that essential trace elements, such as zinc, copper, and manganese, are bound and released when a deficiency occurs.
Clay minerals, together with microorganisms, organic matter, and even sand grains, form an indispensable soil substance—namely, the "clay-humus complex" (KHC). This clay-humus complex provides functions such as pH buffering, phosphate and sulfate regulation, nutrient exchange for plants, and even moisture, air, and heat management in the soil. Edasil has a pH (acidity) of 7-8, contains 6-8% moisture, and can absorb up to 135% water.
